Why should I choose a pay monthly website?

Websites should no longer be viewed as a “set and forget” product. They require on-going technical, content and design updates in order to stay relevant and useful to your users.

With a monthly investment these essential on-going updates are included as standard. Paying for your website monthly also removes a large up-front cost, increasing cash-flow in other areas of your business.

How do I update my website?

Both Lite and Pro monthly plans include unlimited content updates. You can email or telephone me with your changes, which I aim to complete within 24 hours. Or, if you are on the pro plan you can also update most content yourself through a content management system.

Are there any extra costs?

All costs associated with ongoing content updates, maintenance and hosting within the scope of your current subscription are included. There are extra costs associated with increased email storage which is detailed on my services page.

What if I don’t like the design?

When you first sign up I will ask you to complete a short Q&A, this allows me to get a better understanding of your needs. While your subscription is active I’m happy to work with you to revise and amend your website design until you are 100% satisfied.

Can I use my own domain name?

Yes, if you prefer, you are able to register and manage your own domain name. I do however offer a domain name registration, renewal and management service included within the monthly cost.

Do I get an email address?

Yes, I can set up an email address using your website domain name. This can be accessed through a webmail client, a mail application such as Google or Apple Mail, or forwarded to an existing mailbox. You can have as many email addresses and mailboxes as you like, however; there is a charge for extra email storage which is detailed on my services page.

Will my website be found on Google?

I work to a strict code of modern web standards; meaning your website pages and content will be correctly structured and easily found by Google. When working on a new project I also submit your website address to Google and make sure any URL forwarding or sitemaps are present and correct. Website’s I’ve developed in the past have all ranked very well on Google, and generally score 90% + on Google’s own Page Insights tool.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is a highly complex area. I don’t offer advanced SEO services such as link building or keyword optimisation; but I am happy to work together with third party SEO or marketing agencies if that is something you find you need.

How do I know if I am getting visitors to my website?

You can view your website visitors and page views using Google Analytics. I can help you set up a free Google Analytics account and install the relevant code on your website.

Can I use my website design somewhere else?

Yes, after 12 months active subscription you will own the combined visual design I have created for your project. You are free to use this design with another web developer or design agency. I can also help transfer any domain names I have registered for you free of charge.

Can I host my website code elsewhere?

No, The code I develop in order for your website to function is bespoke. It is licensed for use on your website for the duration of an active subscription only.

What software do you use?

I design websites using the Adobe Suite; including Illustrator, Photoshop and Experience Design (XD). I develop websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP in Nova, and use Kirby CMS to manage data and content.

Where are you based?

I work from my home office on the West Cliff in Whitby, North Yorkshire. I can offer help and support for your website over email, telephone, or in person if you live in the Whitby area.

Will I be tied into a contract?

You must agree to my terms and conditions which will be displayed during the sign up process, however there is no minimum term. If you are not happy or no longer require your website you are free to leave at any time.

What payment methods do you accept?

Payments are collected on the 1st of each month via a direct debit through GoCardless.

Do you offer discounts for charities?

Yes, if your business is a registered charity I can offer a 20% discount.

Can you supply an invoice for my accounts?

Yes, I can supply an invoice detailing all payments over the last 12 months to coincide with your year end accounts. However, this will not be a VAT invoice as I am not a VAT registered business.
